As a longtime board member of the Monrovia Chamber of Commerce, Bob Helbing has participated in just about every aspect of its development and operation in past decades. And in 2019, he served  as Chapter President, overseeing its powerful advocacy programs for business owners and employers in the Monrovia area.

With free advertising on its website and within its coveted directory, membership within the Chamber also includes invitations to participate in all Chamber events including networking luncheons, special meetings with elected Monrovia government officials, ribbon cuttings and the popular yearly Chamber galas. Members are also eligible for the Citizen of the Year Business Person award, as well as a yearly Installation Banquet.

Bob himself is no stranger to philanthropy or community activism. A Monrovia resident since 1991, he has been active on the Foothill Workforce Development Board for more than a decade. A Past President of Rotary and the Founders Chapter of Business Network International as well as a Toastmaster, he is also a busy father to three sons and devoted husband to the lovely Erin Helbing.

When it comes to Air-Tro’s Heating and Air Conditioning, Bob has built together with his family a reputation for service and integrity throughout the Southland. Air-Tro has been named the San Gabriel Valley Reader’s Choice Award Program seven years in a row, as well as the 2018 Monrovia Weekly’s Reader’s Choice for heating and air conditioning, an award the company has enjoyed for five years running.

A third-generation engineer and fourth-generation contractor, Bob graduated from college with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Cal Tech. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, Bob found rocket scientists were not in high demand. Instead, his father offered him an opportunity to work for Air-Tro, the family business. He returned and took over as company president when his father retired five years later.
